Do you live in the Netherlands and want to improve your Dutch?
Maybe you are preparing for the civic integration exams (inburgeringsexamens). Or maybe you just want to feel more confident in daily life. You might be looking for a job or want to speak better Dutch with your colleagues. Perhaps you want to understand what your children are learning at school and talk more easily with their teachers.
Join my Dutch lessons in small groups
I offer Dutch classes in small groups with students at the same level. Each group has a maximum of 8 students. Everyone in the class has a similar level of Dutch, but comes from different countries, cultures, and backgrounds. What do they all have in common? They want to speak Dutch – and that’s what brings them together!
Learn practical Dutch – focused on the inburgering-examens
Many students join the course to pass the civic integration exams – and that’s exactly what we work on. In class, we practise useful tasks like making and changing appointments, writing emails, and asking for information on the phone – real situations you’ll face in daily life.
Each lesson includes a short grammar explanation, followed by lots of practice in speaking and listening. You’re always welcome to ask questions, and you’ll get homework to help you remember what you’ve learned.
We use books that focus on practical, everyday Dutch, with digital exercises you can do at home on your computer, laptop, or phone. The more you practise, the faster your Dutch will improve!
Time investment
Most students attend classes for 4 to 6 months. After that, many are ready to continue learning independently, move on to a higher level (such as B1), or pass parts of the civic integration exams.
Lessons take place twice a week, and each session lasts 2.5 hours.
I mainly teach during the day – for example, from 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM, or from 1:00 to 3:30 PM. There is also one evening group, from 6:00 to 8:30 PM.
The lessons will get you off to a strong start and provide a solid foundation. But studying at home is essential if you want to make real progress!
A diverse group of students
I started my school in the summer of 2018. In the early years, I mainly taught refugees. Over time, the student population has become more diverse. Today, the group includes expats and their partners, non-Dutch partners of Dutch citizens. and young adults (18+) who have recently arrived and haven’t found a school yet..
This mix of backgrounds makes the learning experience richer for everyone. The shared goal is the same: to learn the language and get to know the country. It’s also a great way to understand each other’s situations – Almere is a city full of nationalities, and that diversity is a real strength!
Intake
A free intake is required before you start. During this meeting, I’ll ask about your current knowledge of Dutch, your goals, and I’ll assess your level by asking you to read or write something in Dutch. If there’s a suitable group available, you may be able to join right away – otherwise, you might need to wait until a new group starts. I open new groups every 3 to 4 months.

Need to stop early? Normally not a problem. Flexibility and practicality are important to me.
Language in the classroom
I speak English, French, some German, and some Arabic, and I’m happy to translate when needed. However, we aim to speak Dutch as much as possible during lessons.
A consistant track record
Panteia is a leading research and consultancy firm in the Netherlands. In their 2024–2025 client satisfaction survey, my school achieved an outstanding score of 9.7 out of 10. This far exceeded the national average of 8.4. In the previous two years, we achieved a 9.5. In fact, we’ve never scored below 9.
